Summary
This own-initiative report concerns misleading advertisement practices. Amendments describe schemes such as misleading directory and payment-form scams that harm SMEs and microbusinesses, their cross-border nature, and divergent national implementation, and call for national focal points, information exchange between Member States, cooperation with enablers such as banks and telephone companies, an EU-wide blacklist, effective penalties, and extending advertising rules to business-to-business contracts.
