General framework for securitisation and specific framework for simple, transparent and standardised securitisation

This dossier establishes a general framework for securitisation and a specific framework for simple, transparent and standardised (STS) securitisation. Amendments revise recitals on the Investment Plan for Europe and the 2008 financial crisis, defining securitisation and STS criteria, risk-sensitive prudential treatment, and a third-party certification or supervisory role; they address risk retention by originators, sponsors and original lenders, investor due diligence, and disclosure of data on underlying exposures by SSPEs.
