Reform of the electoral law of the European Union

This legislative-initiative dossier concerns reform of the electoral law of the European Union. The amendments address proportional representation using list systems or the single transferable vote, constituencies and electoral thresholds, a Union-wide constituency electing additional Members, gender equality and alternating candidates on lists, the visibility of national and European political parties, lead candidates for Commission President, and electronic and internet voting with safeguards for the secrecy of the vote.
