Summary
An own-initiative report on innovation and diversification in non-industrial coastal fishing in regions dependent on fishing. The amendments stress coastal fishing's share of the European fleet and its role in employment, heritage and sustainability in coastal, island and outermost regions, differing definitions across Member States and sea basins, traditional gears and techniques, threats to shellfish and biotoxins, the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, the Common Fisheries Policy and regionalisation.
