Towards a new international climate agreement in Paris

"Towards a new international climate agreement in Paris" is an own-initiative report, in which Parliament sets out its own non-binding position ahead of a negotiation. It was handled by committees including Foreign Affairs, Development and Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, covering climate policy and international environmental agreements. The tabled amendments call on the European External Action Service to prioritise climate diplomacy toward a strong, legally binding agreement at COP21 under the UNFCCC. Others stress human rights and gender equality in the Paris Agreement, the vulnerability of least developed countries and small island states, the goal of limiting warming to 2 degrees, and shifting public support away from fossil fuels. It shares climate subjects with files including "Revision of the EU Emissions Trading System for aviation".
