Application of the Council Directive 2000/78/EC establishing a general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation (Employment Equality Directive)

Own-initiative report on the application of the Employment Equality Directive (Council Directive 2000/78/EC) establishing a general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation. Amendments stress that the Directive sets only minimum requirements, cover discrimination on grounds of religion or belief, disability, age and sexual orientation, note intersectionality with race and ethnicity and the situation of women, older workers and people with disabilities, cite the EU Fundamental Rights Agency and the European Court of Human Rights, and call on the Council to break the deadlock on the horizontal anti-discrimination directive.
