An own-initiative report on liability, compensation and financial security for offshore oil and gas operations. The amendments recall the Deepwater Horizon, Piper Alpha and Castor incidents, call for full implementation of the Offshore Safety Directive 2013/30/EU, risk analysis and environmental impact assessment, a comprehensive EU liability framework, rapid compensation under the polluter pays principle, and note that some Member States transposed the directive only in part.
