Summary
The dossier sets out a European strategy for promoting protein and leguminous crops in EU agriculture. The amendments highlight the EU protein deficit and dependence on imports (including GMO crops from Brazil, Argentina and the United States), and promote soya, grain and forage legumes through crop rotation, nitrogen fixation, reduced synthetic fertilisers, the circular economy, animal feed, biofuels and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
