EU/Japan Strategic Partnership Agreement

An own-initiative report on the EU/Japan Strategic Partnership Agreement. The amendments revise provisions on the EU and Japan as strategic partners, the legally binding framework covering foreign policy, security, weapons of mass destruction and the Non-Proliferation Treaty, the linkage to the Economic Partnership Agreement, shared commitment to human rights and the rule of law, the death penalty in Japan, and regional tensions involving China, Russia and North Korea.
