Summary

This dossier concerns the Visa Information System (VIS) and visa processing. The amendments assign eu-LISA responsibility for data quality and statistical reporting, set evaluation and reporting obligations, address checks on short-stay and long-stay visa applicants and residence permit holders, interoperability of EU information systems, a watchlist for serious crime or terrorism, the best interests of the child, carriers' verification, and the Schengen acquis including Bulgaria and Romania.
