The illegal trade in companion animals in the EU

Resolution on the illegal trade in companion animals in the EU. The amendments address the misuse of the rules on non-commercial movement of pet animals and links to organised crime, the identification and registration of cats, dogs and new companion animals, counterfeit pet passports and weaknesses in the TRACES system, illegal breeding conditions, zoonotic risks including rabies, online and social media sales, and impacts on animal welfare and public health.
