Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): KEFALOGIANNIS Manolis (EPP)
Summary

The Just Transition Fund is a file handled under the ordinary legislative procedure, in which Parliament and the Council of the EU legislate jointly to adopt binding EU law. It was examined by numerous committees including Budgets, Employment and Social Affairs, Regional Development and Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, under the subjects of structural and investment funds and cohesion policy. The amendments address the Just Transition Mechanism, a socially fair transition to Union climate neutrality, financing from cohesion policy and reallocated appropriations, up-skilling and reskilling of affected workers, productive investment in SMEs, gender equality, and support for regions dependent on fossil fuels or greenhouse-gas-intensive industry. It shares subjects such as cohesion policy with related files including the Structural reform support programme 2017-2020.

In plenary, Parliament usually votes in steps: first on amendments to the text (sometimes split into parts, so Members can accept one half of a sentence and reject the other), then on the text as a whole. The “main vote” is the one that adopts or rejects the text itself. Each vote below shows exactly which step it was. How voting works →
