Strengthening transparency and integrity in the EU institutions by setting up an independent EU ethics body

2020/2133(INI)·9th term·AFCO / CONT / ECON / JURI / PETI·INI - Own-initiative procedure·Completed
Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): FREUND Daniel (Verts/ALE)
Summary

Own-initiative report on strengthening transparency and integrity in the EU institutions by setting up an independent EU ethics body. The amendments address post-public employment and 'revolving door' conflicts of interest across EU institutions and agencies, citing cases involving the EBA and former Commissioners and MEPs, and call for stronger pre- and post-employment rules, cooling-off periods, party ethics codes, and a single independent ethics body.

5 roll-call votes

In plenary, Parliament usually votes in steps: first on amendments to the text (sometimes split into parts, so Members can accept one half of a sentence and reject the other), then on the text as a whole. The “main vote” is the one that adopts or rejects the text itself. Each vote below shows exactly which step it was. How voting works →
