Summary

Legislative proposal revising the Schengen evaluation and monitoring mechanism. One amendment rejects the Commission proposal outright; others revise recitals on enhancing the mechanism to maintain mutual trust among Member States, identify deficiencies in applying the Schengen acquis at external and internal borders, ensure respect for the Charter of Fundamental Rights, cover the practices of private entities such as airlines, and reinforce cooperation with Union bodies, offices and agencies.
