Fluorinated gases regulation

2022/0099(COD)·9th term·ENVI / ITRE·COD - Ordinary legislative procedure (ex-codecision procedure)·CompletedProcedure completed
Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): EICKHOUT Bas (Verts/ALE)
Summary

This file on the fluorinated gases regulation follows the ordinary legislative procedure, in which Parliament and the Council decide together to produce binding EU law. It was handled by the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and the Industry, Research and Energy committees, under subjects covering climate policy and the ozone layer, international environmental agreements and sustainable development. The tabled amendments reference the European Green Deal and the Kigali Amendment, set a phase-down for hydrofluorocarbon production, define terms such as hermetically sealed equipment, heat pumps and household appliances, address recovery obligations, leakage prevention, bans on non-refillable containers and producer responsibility schemes, while one amendment moves to reject the Commission proposal. It shares subjects with related files including Fluorinated greenhouse gases and Framework for achieving climate neutrality.

38 roll-call votes

In plenary, Parliament usually votes in steps: first on amendments to the text (sometimes split into parts, so Members can accept one half of a sentence and reject the other), then on the text as a whole. The “main vote” is the one that adopts or rejects the text itself. Each vote below shows exactly which step it was. How voting works →
