Summary

Legislative proposal on protection of groundwater against pollution and environmental quality standards in the field of water policy. Amendments set quality standards and threshold values for substances such as pesticides and their metabolites, PFAS, pharmaceuticals, nickel and glyphosate, and add recitals on chemical pollution of surface and groundwater, drinking water and sanitation access, source-control measures, funding needs and Member States' responsibilities under Directives 2000/60/EC and 2006/118/EC.
