Union certification framework for carbon removals

2022/0394(COD)·9th term·AGRI / ENVI·COD - Ordinary legislative procedure (ex-codecision procedure)·CompletedProcedure completed
Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): PEREIRA Lídia (EPP)
Summary

This dossier concerns a Union certification framework for carbon removals. The amendments revise the regulation's scope and recitals, debating whether to cover carbon farming and biogenic emissions reduction alongside carbon removals, referencing the Paris Agreement, IPCC reports, biodiversity and zero-pollution objectives, avoidance of greenwashing, and existing standards such as Gold Standard, VERRA and the French Label Bas Carbone; one committee proposes rejecting the Commission proposal.

Plenary votes

3 roll-call votes

In plenary, Parliament usually votes in steps: first on amendments to the text (sometimes split into parts, so Members can accept one half of a sentence and reject the other), then on the text as a whole. The “main vote” is the one that adopts or rejects the text itself. Each vote below shows exactly which step it was. How voting works →
