Collection and transfer of advance passenger information for enhancing and facilitating external border controls
Draft regulation on the collection and transfer of advance passenger information (API) data for enhancing and facilitating external border controls. The amendments address the API data to be collected, automated collection of machine-readable travel-document data by air carriers, the single 'router' verifying data formats, pseudonymisation and encryption, transfers at check-in and after flight closure, transit passengers, penalties, fundamental rights, and possible extension to other modes of transport.
