Summary

A proposal on the cross-border exchange of information on road-safety-related traffic offences. The amendments extend the scope to vehicle access regulations such as low-emission and limited-traffic zones, address national contact points and automated searches in vehicle registers, identification of liable persons and data retention, information letters and rights of appeal, penalty/demerit-point systems, hire cars, a CBE Portal, reinvestment of fine revenues in road safety, and cooperation with non-EU countries.
