Summary

This dossier concerns a regulation preventing plastic pellet losses to reduce microplastic pollution. The amendments debate obligations and possible exemptions for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, awareness-raising and training material, financial and other assistance to economic operators and carriers, the handling of pellets and maritime transport including the International Maritime Organization and the OSPAR Convention, the harm of microplastics to environment and human health, and the goal of preventing pellet releases.
