Protection of animals during transport and related operations
This dossier concerns the protection of animals during transport and related operations. Amendments extend the rules to aquatic animals, invoking WOAH guidelines on the welfare of farmed fish, the competitiveness of aquaculture and 'blue food', and avoidance of administrative burdens. Others would ban exports of live animals to third countries, favour carcasses, meat and breeding material over live transport, and exempt short-distance and rescued-animal transport.
