Summary

Through this consent procedure, Parliament considered the draft Council decision on the conclusion, on behalf of the European Union, of the Council of Europe Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law. On the recommendation of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection and the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, Parliament gave its consent to the conclusion of the Convention and instructed its President to forward its position to the Council, the Commission, the governments and parliaments of the Member States and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe. Parliament adopted the resolution on 2026-03-11.
