Summary
Through this consultation procedure, in which the Council consulted Parliament under Article 140(2) TFEU, Parliament gives its opinion on the proposal for a Council decision on the adoption by Bulgaria of the euro on 1 January 2026. Parliament approves the Commission proposal, calls on the Council to notify Parliament if it intends to depart from the approved text, and asks to be consulted again if the text is to be substantially amended. It instructs its President to forward Parliament's position to the Council, the Commission, the European Central Bank, the Eurogroup and the governments of the Member States.
