Amending certain production, labelling and certification rules and certain rules on trade with third countries
This procedure amends production, labelling and certification rules and rules on trade with third countries under Regulation (EU) 2018/848 on organic production. Amendments insist changes must not weaken the sector's fundamental objectives, cite a June-July 2024 Eurobarometer survey where 56% recognised the EU organic logo, and address third-country equivalence extended to 2036 as an exceptional measure, with temporary safeguard measures where imports destabilise the market. They debate use of the organic logo on imported products, physical import controls at a minimum 5% annual rate with at least 20% unannounced for high-risk categories, the TRACES system, misleading online claims, derogations for reproductive material expiring 31 December 2035, protein-feed authorisations, poultry age limits, covered outdoor areas, and wine dealcoholisation. The goal includes 25% organically farmed land in the EU by 2030.
