Research and training programme of the European Atomic Energy Community for the period 2028-2032, complementing Horizon Europe, the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, and providing for the Community’s contribution to the ITER project

This procedure concerns the research and training programme of the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) for the period 2028 to 2032, complementing Horizon Europe and providing for the Community's contribution to ITER. Amendments cite the Draghi report on research and innovation, insist on strict budgetary control and parliamentary scrutiny of Euratom and ITER funding, and set an indicative financial envelope of EUR 2 857 142 857 in current prices. They support fission research including lifetime extension and SMRs and AMRs, non-power applications such as nuclear medicine and radiation protection, the role of the Joint Research Centre, and fusion via ITER, noting the revised ITER project plan postponing operational start to 2035. They promote synergies with the Net-Zero Industry Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1735), harmonised funding rates up to 100 percent (70 percent for larger for-profit entities), and gender equality in research.
