Electricity grids: the backbone of the EU energy system

2025/2006(INI)·10th term·ITRE·INI
Summary

This own-initiative report addresses electricity grids as the backbone of the EU energy system. The amendments revise recitals stressing that grids are essential for the clean energy transition, renewable energy and economic growth, and call for investment to increase cross-border transmission capacity, modernise infrastructure, ensure a flexible, decentralised and digitalised system, address grid bottlenecks and affordability, and respect energy policy as a shared competence.

In plenary, Parliament usually votes in steps: first on amendments to the text (sometimes split into parts, so Members can accept one half of a sentence and reject the other), then on the text as a whole. The “main vote” is the one that adopts or rejects the text itself. Each vote below shows exactly which step it was. How voting works →
