In plenary, Parliament usually votes in steps: first on amendments to the text (sometimes split into parts, so Members can accept one half of a sentence and reject the other), then on the text as a whole. The “main vote” is the one that adopts or rejects the text itself. Each vote below shows exactly which step it was. How voting works →

  2. Amendment 2Motion for a resolution · Paragraph 15 a (new)
    Amendment

    15a. Stresses that intensive livestock farming is a major contributor to soil and water pollution and significantly contributes to higher greenhouse gas emissions, thus reducing biodiversity in the EU;

  3. Amendment 3Motion for a resolution · Paragraph 18 a (new)
    Amendment

    18a. Stresses that the concerning level of concentration in the processing and retail sectors of the livestock value chain contributes to farmers’ precarious situation; calls on the Commission to strictly implement anti-trust legislation in these sectors by using all available tools at its disposal;

  4. Amendment 4Motion for a resolution · Paragraph 27 a (new)
    Amendment

    27a. Calls for the incentivisation of extensive and grass-based livestock farming, particularly under the CAP;

  5. Amendment 5Motion for a resolution · Paragraph 37 a (new)
    Amendment

    37a. Expresses its concerns over the ineffective implementation and poor enforcement of current EU animal welfare legislation;

  6. Amendment 6Motion for a resolution · Paragraph 37 b (new)
    Amendment

    37b. Underlines the importance of a shift towards plant-based food consumption, better animal welfare during the entire production cycle, and the promotion of higher animal welfare standards both internationally and domestically;

  7. Amendment 7Motion for a resolution · Paragraph 39 a (new)
    Amendment

    39a. Calls on the Commission to propose a harmonised and mandatory system for method-of-production and origin labelling that provides information on farming, transport and slaughter methods, and information on the welfare of animals throughout their entire life cycles;

  8. Amendment 8Motion for a resolution · Paragraph 46 a (new)
    Amendment

    46a. Emphasises, in particular, the essential role of hedgerows in livestock farming landscapes, especially in bocage systems, as key agroecological infrastructure that provide multiple ecosystem services, including biodiversity conservation, carbon sequestration, water retention, shelter for animals and landscape quality; stresses that the preservation and restoration of hedge networks must be recognised as an integral part of sustainable livestock farming and rural heritage, and must receive financial support;

  9. Amendment 9Motion for a resolution · Paragraph 107 a (new)
    Amendment

    107a. Considers that the cumulative impact of the EU-Mercosur Agreement and the EU-Australia Agreement, which will substantially increase imports of beef from Mercosur countries and of beef and sheep from Australia into the EU, will put EU farmers under further strain, especially in certain sensitive product sectors, particularly in the high-quality beef sector; notes with concern that the EU-Mercosur Agreement does not ensure converging safety standards;
