This own-initiative report addresses an EU health workforce crisis plan covering the sustainability of healthcare systems and employment and working conditions in the healthcare sector. The amendments call for a long-term European health workforce strategy and a Council recommendation on safe staffing, with proposals on nurse-to-patient ratios, working conditions, burnout prevention, data collection and junior doctors' hours under the European Working Time Directive.
