An EU cardiovascular diseases strategy

This is an own-initiative report on an EU cardiovascular diseases strategy. The amendments address modifiable and inherited risk factors, calling for regulation of tobacco, nicotine, alcohol and diet through front-of-pack labelling, reformulation targets for salt, sugar and saturated fats, and marketing restrictions, and linking cardiovascular risk to diabetes, obesity, extreme heat and air pollution. They promote screening, vaccination and cardiac rehabilitation, while noting cardiovascular health remains a national responsibility.
