Global role of the euro

This own-initiative report concerns the global role of the euro. The amendments seek to reduce dependence on foreign, largely US, payment infrastructures and dollar funding, promote euro invoicing in trade, energy and defence contracts, and debate a central bank digital currency, tokenisation and euro-denominated stablecoins. They discuss a common European safe asset, a European debt management office and an EU sovereignty fund, while stressing Member States' fiscal sovereignty.
