Commission Delegated Regulation amending Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/1818 as regards the definition of prohibited weapons

2025/2847(DEA)·DEA·Official procedure file ↗

Delegated act — scrutiny of a measure adopted by the Commission.

Summary

Through this objection to a Commission delegated act under Rule 114, a motion for a resolution tabled by members of The Left Group objects to a Commission delegated regulation of 3 November 2025 amending Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/1818 on EU Paris-aligned Benchmarks. The text states the delegated regulation replaces the term controversial weapons with prohibited weapons, narrowing the exclusion criteria to four categories, namely anti-personnel mines, cluster munitions, and biological and chemical weapons, so that companies involved in weapons such as nuclear weapons, depleted uranium, incendiary weapons, non-detectable fragments, blinding lasers and lethal autonomous weapon systems could become eligible for the underlying assets. It objects to the delegated regulation, expresses deep concern that such companies are no longer excluded, and insists they should not be eligible because those activities contradict the principle of environmental sustainability and the objectives of the Paris Agreement. Parliament rejected the objection on 2025-11-26, so the objection did not carry.
