Objection pursuant to Rule 115(2) and (3) of the Rules of Procedure to the draft Commission Implementing Decision authorising the placing on the market of products containing, consisting of or produced from of genetically modified maize DAS1131, pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council
Resolution on a topical subject.
In this non-legislative resolution, Parliament objects under Rule 115 to the draft Commission implementing decision authorising the placing on the market of products containing, consisting of or produced from genetically modified maize DAS1131 under Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003. It considers that the draft decision exceeds the Commission's implementing powers and is not consistent with Union law, and calls on the Commission to withdraw the draft and not to authorise the GM maize, citing the lack of sufficient evidence on long-term impacts on biodiversity, food safety and farmers' livelihoods and unresolved questions about the carcinogenicity of glyphosate, to which the maize is tolerant. The resolution also calls on the Commission to submit without delay a legislative proposal to reform the GMO decision-making procedure and to take account of the Union's international commitments. It was adopted on 2025-11-25.
