Management of deep-sea fish stocks
This own-initiative report concerns the management of deep-sea fish stocks. Amendments call for reducing exploitation of deep-sea stocks and improving data collection and stock assessment, applying the precautionary approach, lowering total allowable catches that have exceeded scientific advice, banning discards, restricting fishing over seamounts, hydrothermal vents and cold-water corals and bottom-trawling, coordinating measures within regional fisheries organisations and with ICES advice, and conducting socio-economic and environmental impact assessments.
