Summary
The dossier is an own-initiative report on protecting the consumer through improved consumer education and awareness on credit and finance. Amendments revise paragraphs on financial education and literacy, programmes tailored to target groups including young people, immigrants and vulnerable consumers, the role of the financial services industry and consumer organisations, the US sub-prime crisis, and education as a complement to consumer protection.
