Protection of animals at the time of killing

This dossier is a Council regulation on the protection of animals at the time of slaughter and killing. The amendments add and refine definitions such as stunning, unconsciousness, death, slaughterhouse and fur animals, address derogations for religious slaughter and religious festivities involving traditional sacrifices, exempt small slaughterhouses selling directly to consumers, and cover hunting, recreational fishing, semi-domesticated deer, and the scope for fish, crustaceans, molluscs and cephalopods.
