Summary
This dossier is the directive on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes. The amendments address Member States maintaining more extensive protection, trained persons and a permanent ethical review body, the scope covering non-human primates, invertebrate species and embryonic forms, capture of primates from the wild, care and accommodation standards, inspections, upper limits of pain and suffering, and humane end-points.
