This dossier sets standards of quality and safety of human organs intended for transplantation. Amendments address risks of disease transmission, national quality programmes, competent authorities and authorisation, donor characterisation, and the exchange of organs between Member States and with third countries. They invoke the subsidiarity principle and the Charter of Fundamental Rights, data protection, voluntary and unpaid donation, and confidentiality.
