Summary
This dossier concerns community media in Europe. The amendments address defining community media as non-profit, independent and accountable to communities, their role in cultural diversity, pluralism, intercultural dialogue and integration of immigrants and disadvantaged groups, their legal recognition, status and a code of practice, the need for funding and political independence, audience surveys, media literacy and school-based outlets, and the impact of the Internet and concentration of ownership.
