Summary
The dossier is an own-initiative report on next steps in border management in the European Union and similar experiences in third countries. The amendments address a proposed entry/exit system and 'overstayers', a Registered Traveller Programme and Automated Border Control, existing systems such as VIS, SIS and EURODAC, the proposed ESTA and biometric passports, data protection and the European Data Protection Supervisor, and cooperation under the European Neighbourhood Policy.
