Summary

This dossier concerns institutional aspects of EU accession to the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. The amendments welcome accession and its external judicial control by the European Court of Human Rights, and address accession to the ECHR's Additional Protocols and the European Social Charter, the EU's representation in Council of Europe bodies, the negotiating mandate under Article 218 TFEU, Parliament's scrutiny, and divergence between the ECtHR and the Court of Justice.
