Summary
An own-initiative report on recognising agriculture as a strategic sector for food security. Amendments affirm the right to food and food sovereignty, express concern at food-price volatility and speculation by financial actors, address the food supply chain and retailers, call for high food-safety, environmental and animal-welfare standards, and link food security to biodiversity, water resources and developing countries.
