Summary
This own-initiative dossier addresses the future of VAT. Amendments target VAT fraud (including carousel fraud) and its estimated cost, call for simpler and consolidated VAT legislation, stronger cross-border cooperation between Member States and bodies such as Eurojust, Europol and OLAF, reverse-charge mechanisms, use of VIES and EUROFISC, and debate reduced rates, exemptions and shifts between direct and indirect taxation.
