Summary
Own-initiative dossier on an EU trade and investment strategy for the Southern Mediterranean following the Arab Spring revolutions. Amendments support the region's democratic aspirations and economic development, call for respect of fundamental rights including freedom of expression and religion, welcome the tailor-made neighbourhood approach and the EU-Tunisia Task Force, seek balanced trade agreements preceded by impact studies, promote responsible investment guidelines, and highlight energy cooperation.
