Community framework for the nuclear safety of nuclear installations
Proposal amending the directive establishing a Community framework for the nuclear safety of nuclear installations. The amendments revise provisions on safety objectives for siting, design, operation and decommissioning, transparency and information to workers and the public, on-site emergency preparedness, periodic self-assessments and international peer reviews, the independence of the competent regulatory authority, the Aarhus Convention, lessons from the Fukushima accident and stress tests, and cross-border cooperation between regulatory authorities.
