Summary
This proposal lays down maximum permitted levels of radioactive contamination of food and feed following a nuclear accident or other radiological emergency. The amendments stress a high level of public health protection — citing the Chernobyl and Fukushima accidents and the Codex Alimentarius criteria — and revise lower levels for foods for infants and children, the consultation of expert groups in adapting the levels, and the checks by Member States.
