Subjects: Forestry policy · Protection of natural resources: fauna, flora, nature, wildlife, countryside; biodiversity
Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): KÖSTINGER Elisabeth (PPE)
Summary
This own-initiative dossier addresses a new EU forest strategy for forests and the forest-based sector. Amendments weigh forest protection, conservation and sustainable management incentives, biodiversity and carbon-sink roles, and climate change mitigation against the subsidiarity principle and Member State competence, while addressing deforestation, forest disasters, multifunctional uses and the forest-based value chain.
