Procedure
New CFP: structure for technical measures and multiannual plans
2015/2092(INI)·8th term·PECH·INI - Own-initiative procedure·CompletedProcedure completed
Subjects: Fisheries policy
Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): MATO Gabriel (PPE)
Summary
An own-initiative report on a new Common Fisheries Policy structure for technical measures and multiannual plans. Amendments emphasise restoring stocks to maximum sustainable yield using an ecosystem-based approach, the landing obligation, discard elimination and regionalisation introduced under the 2013 CFP reform, the complexity and inconsistency of existing technical measures that make fishermen mistrustful, and the need for more selective fishing gear and a science-based review.
