Certain aspects of mediation in civil and commercial matters (Mediation Directive)

An own-initiative report on certain aspects of mediation in civil and commercial matters under the Mediation Directive. The amendments note divergent implementation among Member States, mediation as a voluntary, confidential out-of-court procedure improving access to justice and easing overloaded courts, the European Code of Conduct for Mediators, enforceability of mediated agreements, family law mediation including child abduction, safeguards for weaker parties, and national registers of mediated proceedings.
