Summary
This own-initiative report concerns cross-border restitution claims of works of art and cultural goods looted in armed conflicts and wars. Amendments cite the 1954 Hague Convention, the 1970 UNESCO Convention and the 1995 UNIDROIT Convention, address looting and illicit trafficking linked to terrorist financing, the Washington Conference Principles on Nazi-confiscated art, gaps in private international law and EU legislation, and provenance research with UNESCO, ICOM and Interpol.
