European strategy on cooperative intelligent transport systems

This own-initiative report concerns a European strategy on Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS). The amendments call for an EU legislative framework for C-ITS deployment, highlight its potential to improve road safety by reducing human error, lower fuel consumption and emissions, support public, intermodal and automated transport and platooning, stress sensor interoperability, data protection and access to traffic data, and urge cooperation at local, regional and cross-border level.
